Richard Adams Provides Job Hunting Tips on How to Make a Great Resume and Land the Job of Your Dreams
London, UK (PRWEB) November 14, 2007 -- According to statistics, job hunting is one of the most popular uses of the Internet. Every day thousands of people apply for new jobs online. But most of these applications will be in vain, says veteran of the industry Richard Adams.
"Most of the advice given on how to make a resume (http://www.howtomakeagreatresume) and apply for jobs" he says "may have worked in the past but won't work anymore". He stresses that getting the job of your dreams isn't just about looking like the best person for the job, but also being memorable. And average isn't memorable.
So, he suggests, don't use the standard Microsoft Word resume templates like so many other people do - instead design a unique resume layout to stand out.
Try to find out as much as possible about any interview in advance - such as by tracking down and speaking to other new recruits - to see what should be expected from the interview process.
What's more, Adams says many people make silly common-sense mistakes when applying for jobs that seriously hamper their chances of success.
One example sited was the person who used a template for a covering letter but forgot to add his name and address so the address simply read "Your name goes here, your address goes here".
There are, he claims, 7 steps that you need to get right to land your dream job. And if you follow his guidance he guarantees you a new job within 60 days.
Step 1: Consider your skills, experience and likes to work out your perfect job
Step 2: Get to know the job role you are interested in like the back of your hand
Step 3: Create the perfect resume
Step 4: Find available positions for your dream job
Step 5: Apply in style for those jobs
Step 6: Knock 'em dead at your interview
Step 7: Choose the best job from the offers you receive
There is a lot more to each point to guarantee your success but so many people fail (or don't even try) at each step that simply following the above steps - in that specific order - will greatly increase the applicant's chances of success.
